About Christ Jyoti Sr. Sec. School

A Convent School named Vijaya Shishu Vidhyalaya was opened in a rented house, Civil Lines, Satna on 1st July, 1973, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Thomas Emprayil ( Manager ) and Sisters of the Sacred Heart Congregation. The founder patron of the school was his Excellency Mar Abraham D. Mattam, Bishop of Satna. After his retirement in the year 2000, his successor, Mar Mathew Vaniakizhakkel became the new patron. The school began as a kindergarten and gradually became a prestigious educational institution in Satna.

The foundation stone for the present school building was laid in the newly purchased plot on Rewa Road on 26th May, 1974. On 8th July 1974 the school was shifted to the present site with the change in name to Christ Jyoti School. The formal inauguration of this school was done by the late Mr.Gulsher Ahmed, former Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Ex. Minister of M. P. Govt. on 2nd October, 1974

Christ Jyoti School is a co-educational English medium Senior Secondary School which is run by Satna Diocesan Society, in collaboration with Rev. Sisters of the Congregation of Sacred Heart. The Management enjoys the minority right as enshrined in the Constitution of India (Art No.30). Taking in consideration the earnest request of the parents and well-wishers, later on the school was upgraded to Hr. Secondary School.

The school bears the name Christ Jyoti, Christ the light, “the True Light that enlightens everyone (John, 1:9) . The Motto of the school is “Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya “, to dispel the darkness of ignorance and to enkindle the light of knowledge, love, truth and selfless service in the minds and hearts of the children.

The school had a steady growth with excellent records on both curricular and co-curricular activities. A few of the students, Master Ashutosh Choudhary, has secured first rank in the Hr. Sec. Certificate Examination under M. P. Board in 1997 securing 92% marks in the aggregate and Ku.Shiuli Parui secured fourth rank with 92.2% in 2001. In sports and games 37 students were selected in the State level competitions and four, in the National level in the academic year 2005-2006. The students who were selected for National level are Master Sourabh Tripathi (Chess) Ku. Honey Agrawal who got first place in the competition (Cricket), Master Raunak Yadav and Shatrughan Verma (Cricket).
